By Train

The Lucca Train Station is located in Piazzale Ricasoli, about 10-15 minutes walking distance from the San Francesco Complex of IMT School.

It is directly connected to the main Tuscan cities, including Pisa and Florence. You can check connections and timetables on the Trenitalia website.

By Car

Lucca is situated on the highway connecting Florence to Pisa and Versilia, the “Autostrada A11 Firenze-Mare”. 

The nearest highway exit to the IMT Campus is the Lucca-Est exit. You can leave your car at the Mazzini underground parking (Via dei Bacchettoni) that is next to the Campus and reachable from Porta Elisa.

From Pisa

The nearest airport to Lucca is the Galileo Galilei International Airport of Pisa.

This is well connected to Lucca by public transports:

By train: Pisa Airport – Pisa Centrale Railway Station: transfer is provided by the Pisa Mover Train service with a timetable departure of every 10 minutes and a journey time of 5/8 minutes. At the Airport, the stop is located just outside the check-in area. At the Pisa Centrale Railway Station, the stop is located close to platform 14, from which you can easily reach the other platforms and the station’s main entrance. The ticket costs around €6.50.

Trains to Lucca depart from Pisa Centrale Railway Station. Details are available on the Trenitalia website. Direct trains are Regional trains; the journey takes a little over 30 minutes, and the ticket costs about €3.90. 

By bus: Bus travel from Pisa to Lucca is provided by Autolinee Toscane, with connections and timetables available on the website.

From Florence

The School can also be easily reached from the Amerigo Vespucci International Airport in Florence.

Tram + Train: T2 tram connects Florence Airport and Alamanni – Santa Maria Novella (SMN). Then Trenitalia operates regional trains to connect Florence and Lucca. Total travel time may be approx. 2 hours, for a total cost of approximately €11–15

Tram + Bus: Take the T2 tram from Florence Airport to Guidoni (one stop). From Guidoni bus terminal, Autolinee Toscane - Linee Regionali operates a bus to Lucca. Total travel time may be approx. 1.5 - 2 hours, for a total cost of approximately €11–12.
