Transcranial Brain Stimulation in Cognitive Neuroscience Workshop
Transcranial Brain Stimulation in Cognitive Neuroscience Workshop
December 2–4, 2026
IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca, Italy
From Predictors to Causality
This workshop is dedicated to critically examining the causal role of non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS) techniques in the field of cognitive neuroscience. To what extent can NIBS approaches truly establish causal relationships, and what factors moderate their effects?
Our primary objective is to explore the methodological and theoretical complexities surrounding the use of transcranial brain stimulation, fostering a deeper understanding of the current empirical evidence, limitations, and future directions of NIBS research in cognitive neuroscience.
Emphasis will be placed on how multi-lab initiatives within an open science framework can strengthen the reliability, reproducibility, and advancement of knowledge in this research area. By facilitating an environment that encourages collaboration and interdisciplinary dialogue, the workshop seeks to empower attendees with a deeper appreciation of both the potential and limitations of transcranial brain stimulation in cognitive neuroscience research.
There will be a dedicated space to present and promote collaborative projects in the NIBS field from an open science perspective. If you would like to present your project, please write to the organisation.
The abstract submission deadline is October 16, 2026. However, registration and abstract submission may close before this date once the maximum number of participants or abstracts has been reached.
